Painted glass products
Painted glasses must be cured in order to be top rack dishwasher safe. Painted glasses should never be washed with an abrasive surface or scrubbing sponge. To fully cure your glass, allow the paint to dry for 2 hours after class. Put your glass into a cool oven. Turn your oven up to 350° and let your glass bake for 30 minutes. Allow oven and glass to cool before removing it. Do not take glass out of oven while it is still hot. PRO TIP: If you put a room temperature glass directly into a hot over it will shatter and be a total pain in the butt to clean up!
Per manufacturer: Paint is non-toxic but it is not food safe and it is not microwave safe. After it is fully cured in an oven it will be top rack dishwasher safe.
Painted totes
Your handy new tote is spot wash only. The best way to prevent staining is to apply a fabric protector like Scotchgard™ Fabric & Upholstery Protector. If you don’t use a fabric protector you run the risk of damaging your artwork while spot washing. Even if you don’t apply this fabric protector you can still use a non abrasive surface such as a damp rag or wet paper towel and gently rub the spot with warm water. Add a tiny amount of laundry soap if the stain is stubborn. If you cannot completely remove the stain and have not applied fabric protector, you should be able to paint over it with similar colors of acrylic paint!
Painted Canvas
Painted canvas should be kept indoors. Paintings left in daily direct sunlight may fade. Adding a protective finish to your painting with KRYLON® UV-Resistant Clear Coating will prevent it from fading. After applying the clear coating, your painting will also be more resistant to stains and direct contact with moisture. Don’t forget to coat the sides too!
Your painted gallery wrapped canvas has many hanging options because it’s very light and looks great without a frame. The easiest options for the sizes that we paint at Paint Your Poison events is to use 1 Sawtooth Hanger on the back of the frame at the top center. Another option would be to use 2 D-Ring Hangers with Framing Wire between them. The D-ring Hangers should be placed on the back of the frame approximately 1/3 down from the top and should be parallel to each other. Lastly, if you want an actual frame you can purchase a Floater Styled Frame made specifically for gallery wrapped canvas.
Painted Wood & pallets
Painted wood boards and pallets should be kept indoors in a dry environment if possible but there are protective measures you can take for them to resist exterior elements. Pallets and hardboard made of a composite material are most at risk in exterior elements so take extra care to seal them if you would like to put them outside. All boards made of composite materials must be kept from getting wet, but solid wood boards and porch greeters should be ok with a little bit of moisture as long as they’re sealed
To hang painted wood boards and pallets, we recommend 3M Command™ strips or VELCRO® Brand HANGables® wall fasteners. If you want a more rustic look, you can attach a piece of twine to the back of your painting for it to hang from with a permanent wood adhesive. Wood staples and nails are not recommended to attach twine or other hanging apparatuses because they are too long and may completely penetrate through the front of your painting and ruin it. If you want a more traditional look you can also frame wood boards like a regular flat painting, however the pallets generally look best unframed.
